Our bamboo whisk, or Chasen as it is called in Japanese, is hand-crafted from a single piece of bamboo. This creates delicate and beautiful curls of bamboo that make whisking your Japanese green tea powder an absolute pleasure - the very purpose of the Japanese tea ceremony!
You don’t need a Japanese tea ceremony as an excuse to use a chasen. This whisk helps you to create the perfect traditional cup of tea, matcha lattes or even water and matcha pastes for mixing into your favourite matcha recipes or face masks at home!
We recommend soaking the whisk in warm water for 1-2 minutes before use. This will prevent breakage, as the whisk can be brittle when dry.

To create your perfect matcha tea, simply mix 1-2 teaspoons of Matcha Me matcha powder into a 70ml cup of hot, but not boiling, water (try boiling some water and then adding a little bit of cold water to drop the temperature to about 80 degrees celsius). Then, using your bamboo whisk, whisk in a Z-shaped motion until your matcha is frothy and bubbly!
To prepare, add 1/2 tsp scoop of matcha into your favourite matcha bowl and add 200ml of warm water (80° C). Whisk together until frothy and enjoy!
