How to Make and Prepare Matcha Green Tea

Matcha is the perfect morning beverage, especially for those of us who are tea people! Most of us are so used to making tea and coffee, that these simple rituals have become second nature and we have no idea where to start when working with something like matcha powder. However, Matcha Tea is just as easy to make as your morning tea or coffee!

Required items:

  • 1x Tin of Matcha Me’s Premium Matcha Powder
  • 1x (optional) sifting device
  • 1x Mug/cup/bowl or use a Matcha Bowl (A Chawan is recommended)
  • 1x Spoon or Matcha Scoop (Chashaku)
  • 50-60ml of 80° C water (10ml of cold water and 40-50ml of boiling water if you don’t have a   kettle)
  • 1x Electric Whisk or Matcha Whisk (Chasen is preferable, a fork or small electric frother/whisk will work as well)

Here are the basic steps involved in preparing your morning Matcha:

Step 1. (optional)

>This step is completely optional. Some people like to sift their powder, allowing it to combine easier with the water.

Step 2.

Add roughly 1 gram or 1 scoop of our Organic Matcha Powder to a mug/cup/bowl.

Step 3.

Add a small amount (roughly 10ml) of cold water to our Organic Matcha Powder, unless you a kettle that can boil exactly to 80° C. Matcha powder is just like regular green tea, where if the water is too hot, the tea will be bitter. If you’ve gone the route of adding a small amount of cold water, mix the matcha powder and the cold water together into a paste. Now you can add roughly 40-50ml of boiling water.

Step 4.

Whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion until frothy using your whisk.

Step 5.

Enjoy your Matcha Latte
