Read on to find out all of the reasons why you should choose Matcha Me for your bulk matcha needs.
Matcha is a high quality form of powdered green tea, which originates in Japan. Ours comes from a region called Uji in Kyoto, Japan. Our matcha is premium grade, vibrant green, delicious and completely packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Matcha does not come in a tea bag, it is a powder that dissolves into hot water. This means that matcha is not only healthier than green tea bags, but is more convenient and better for the environment. When you consume matcha, you get 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea!
Matcha has 10 times the nutritional value as well as 137 times the amount antioxidants than regular brewed green tea so it is very good for you! These antioxidants fight free radicals, as well as fighting off signs of ageing and wrinkles.
We tried lots of different matcha from all over Japan before we finally settled on our premium matcha based on three main qualities:
- Colour - colour isn’t everything, but if your matcha is a murky brown, then steer clear!
- Taste - True matcha should always be naturally sweet with a delicious umami taste.
- Mixability - A pure matcha should mix with ease into any solution. There shouldn’t be any clumps.
If you’re buying matcha that doesn’t follow these three qualities, then you are not buying premium matcha powder from Matcha Me!
Matcha comes in a few different grades of varying quality. At Matcha Me, we only sell premium matcha. We are passionate about not selling an inferior blended or non-Japanese product. Which is why we source our premium organic matcha from Kagoshima which is known for producing the best organic matcha in the world. We also sell a premium non-organic (culinary) matcha which is sourced from the famous tea growing region of Uji, Kyoto. Both of our matchas can be used for drinking, cooking, smoothie making or anything you can dream of!
Matcha does contain caffeine, but less than most coffee at only about 30mg per serve (compared to up to 150mg in a cup of coffee). Unlike coffee, matcha does not spike and crash. Thanks to the amino acid content in matcha, the caffeine is absorbed differently to coffee. When you drink matcha, the effect of the caffeine is longer lasting and has a gentler increase and decrease. This means that your period of alertness lasts longer and there is no nasty jitters or crash like with coffee.

Yes, matcha does help with weight loss making it a great part of any diet and exercise regimen. This is because of matcha’s high antioxidant content which helps to oxidise fat and speed up the body’s metabolism. Matcha itself is also super low in calories.
Matcha is perfectly safe to drink but some people find themselves sensitive to matcha. This could be because of the caffeine content in matcha. If you find yourself being sensitive, remember to not go overboard with the amount of matcha you’re consuming - 1-2 teaspoons in your beverage is enough. You can also try to avoid consuming matcha if you have an empty stomach.
Matcha has a complex, full bodied, and aromatic taste. It also has a wonderful sweet aftertaste. Thanks to the chlorophyll and amino acid content, Matcha has a delightful creamy vegetal taste. Making sure that you make your matcha properly ensures that the taste is as good as it can be.
Matcha is best stored in a cold, dark environment. This means that you can keep it in the refrigerator or in the cupboard - it is completely up to you. Your matcha will last for up to 18 months.
Matcha is made from green tea leaves but it is not the same thing as green tea! Matcha is a smooth powder that creates a velvety drink, whereas green tea is crunchy leaves that you have to steep. Therefore, matcha is a lot smoother, and less bitter than green tea and has the additional benefit of many more nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants (137x more than regular green tea)!
